Make Like a Tree and Bear Fruit
Mikell Camp and Conference Center October 16-18, 2009 "All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth" Col 1:5-6 Join young adults from across the southeast for celebration, exploration, growth, fun, and worship in the Episcopal tradition. We'll have another great lineup of workshops, hiking, and fellowship, with returning keynote speaker, the Rt. Rev. J. Neil Alexander, Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta. We are glad to be back for the 2nd Young Adult Summit, sponsored by DAYA (Diocese of Atlanta Young Adults). DAYA was created to help young adults grow in their faith and connect with their peers, and through the Young Adult Summit, we aim to continue this mission on an even broader scale, enabling us to reach out to the wider Episcopal community. This annual event will focus on empowering young adults through a series of specially designed workshops and plenty of free time for fellowship. We are all finding ways to live out the Gospel in our own lives. In the new testament we are given the Great Commission to go out in to the world and bear fruit. At this year's conference we will explore how we can plant roots and bear fruit in our everyday lives through workshops and a Young Adult Ministries panel discussion.
We are happy to welcome back Bishop Alexander as our keynote speaker for the 2009 conference. His address at last year's conference was empowering and thought provoking and we are excited to see how he approaches this year's topic of bearing fruit. He will spend the weekend with us talking about his vision for young adult ministries and getting ideas from us about what we want and need from the church. A tentative schedule of the weekend and descriptions of the workshops, as well as printable media needed to help spread the word about this conference, can be found on this site. If you would like be a part of this empowering conference, please complete and return the registration form or register online by September 14, 2009. Late registrations will be accepted with an additional $50 fee. YAS MissionThe Young Adult Summit is designed to engage young adults in the Episcopal Church through providing opportunities for fellowship, fun, and spiritual growth. The weekend will be filled with prayer, free time, and interactive workshops, geared toward introducing young adults to diocesan and national ministries. |
